Hair removal and its risks

It's been a while since it's fashionable to completely depilate the pubic hairs or to depilate them a lot in Brazil. In fact, the country is known internationally for this aesthetic public. Many countries, abroad, offer the so-called "Brazilian hair removal". But did you know that the amount of pubic hair is related to health issues?

A recent study, published by the University of California and published in Sexually Transmitted Infections, suggests that both men and women who undergo total pubertal hair removal are at a higher risk of contracting sexually transmitted diseases (STIs) than people who do not Do so on a regular basis or who have more capillary volume in the region, as the BBC reports.

Total hair removal and its risks

17% of participants reported completely depilating pubic hair once a month, 22% reported using the technique very often, daily or once a week.

Participants with the habit of totally withdrawing their hair have a three to four times greater chance of contracting an STD and, above all, the infections that occur through contacts with the skin, such as herpes and HPV.

But there is a good side to this story. Who is adept at epilation is less likely to contract to bore, a type of lice that occurs in the pubic region.

Previous studies have already confirmed the risks of absolute removal of pubic hair, one from the Spanish Academy of Dermatology in Barcelona and the other from the Health Center at Western Washington University. Both have demonstrated the risks of contracting fungi, herpes, human papillomavirus (HPV), genital warts and syphilis.
