Iran bans 'satanic' hairstyles and hair removal male eyebrow

Hairstyles considered somewhat heterodox have been banned by the Iranian authorities seeking to fight the satanic cults, said on Monday (4) the local press, which indicated they were also prohibited tattoos and hair removal of male eyebrows.

Pointy hairstyles are very popular among young Iranians for several years, but divided public opinion and were sentenced by the authorities for being too Western and contrary to Islam.

"The Satanic hairstyles are forbidden," said Mostafa Govahi. Union leader of Iran barbers, quoted by the ISNA news agency.

"Any facility that undertakes satanic style haircuts will be severely punished, and your license will be revoked," he said, noting that if someone cut the hair of a customer in this style "is violating Islamic norms."

The same goes for tattoos, tanning treatments and waxing eyebrows - another fashionable for young Iranians - according to the same source.

The union represents barber's men in Iran, while the hairdresser's women gather in another organization.
